Founded in Japan in 1931, Bridgestone grew into one of the world's largest tire makers and supplies original equipment across mainstream and luxury vehicles alike. In Canada its name is almost synonymous with one product: Blizzak, the winter tire many drivers here simply ask for by name.
Beyond winter, the lineup is clearly split by intent: Turanza for quiet touring, Potenza for performance, Alenza for premium SUVs, Dueler for trucks, and UltraWeather — new for 2026, replacing WeatherPeak — for drivers who want one severe-snow-rated set year-round. That structure makes it easy to land on the right tire once we know the vehicle and how it is driven.
Bridgestone Canada Inc. publishes one warranty manual covering both Bridgestone and Firestone (current edition effective January 1, 2024, for tires bought after December 31, 2023). Bridgestone's standard coverage is branded the "Platinum Pact" — and unusually, the Canadian manual states everything in kilometres, so no mile-to-km guessing is needed.
Eligible Bridgestone tires (winter and temporary spares excepted) that fail from a workmanship or material defect are replaced free — including mounting and balancing — for the first 3 years from purchase. From year 3 to year 5 the replacement is prorated by tread used. Coverage ends at 2/32" (1.6 mm) remaining tread, and a tire more than 10 years from its manufacture date is no longer eligible.
Buy a set of 4 or more from a dealer and, if not completely satisfied, return them to the original store within 90 days for an exchange credit toward a new Bridgestone or Firestone set — it is a credit, not a cash refund. One set per vehicle per 12 months; excludes winter tires, factory-fitted tires and most run-flats (DriveGuard is covered).
Blizzak and other winter lines sit outside the Platinum Pact: there is no free-replacement window and no mileage warranty. Defects are still covered, but on a prorated basis only, up to 5 years from purchase.
Two different things, often confused: a treadwear (mileage) warranty is not the defect warranty, and it is not a promise the tire will last that far. It means that if the tread wears out evenly before the listed distance (with rotation records in order), the manufacturer credits the unused percentage toward a replacement — you still pay the rest. Manufacturing defects are covered separately by the defect warranty above, which has its own free-replacement window and total term.

First thing to know: the warranty belongs to the manufacturer, not the store. Tires bought from us can be claimed at any authorized dealer of that brand anywhere in the country — if you move away, or something goes wrong on a road trip, you do not have to drive back to Markham for us to handle it. (Two notes: the satisfaction trial exchange is the exception, which the manufacturers require you to do at the original place of purchase; and warehouse chains such as Costco and Canadian Tire generally only process claims on tires they sold themselves, so call ahead — that is their store policy, not the warranty.)
No. All Bridgestone winter tires are excluded from both the mileage warranty and the 3-year free-replacement window. Defects are covered on a prorated basis for up to 5 years.
