A German premium brand with a strong mix of touring, ultra-high-performance, SUV, all-terrain, all-weather and winter tires. Continental is a useful comparison point when wet braking, handling and year-round refinement are priorities.
Continental has been making tires in Hanover, Germany since 1871 and is one of Europe's dominant original-equipment suppliers — a large share of German cars leave the factory on Continental rubber. The brand's consistent strength in independent testing is wet braking and overall balance rather than any single headline spec.
For Canadian buyers the draw is often the warranty package as much as the tire: Continental backs eligible lines with a satisfaction trial, road-hazard coverage and roadside flat assistance on top of the usual treadwear warranty — one of the more complete bundles any brand offers here. Continental Tire Canada backs its passenger and light-truck tires with the "Total Confidence Plan" (policy edition April 2025) — the most complete warranty bundle of any brand we carry: a satisfaction trial, real road-hazard coverage, flat-tire roadside assistance and trip-interruption reimbursement, stacked on top of the usual workmanship and treadwear warranties.
Within 60 days of purchase or the first 2/32" (1.6 mm) of wear, exchange any or all of a new set of four for the same or a different Continental line — mounting and balancing free, you pay only taxes (and the difference if you upgrade). Winter tires must be exchanged for winter tires. One trial per set.
If a tire is damaged beyond repair by a road hazard — cut, snag, puncture, bruise or impact break — within the first 12 months or first 2/32" of wear, Continental replaces it free with a comparable tire. Repairable punctures are repaired, not replaced. You pay mounting, balancing, taxes and disposal on the claim.
Register the tires at totalconfidence-plan.com after purchase and Continental covers 24/7 flat-tire help for 3 years: a spare-tire change (up to $200 per event) or, when there is no workable spare or more than one flat, a tow of up to 250 km. Limit 3 events over the term. A trip-interruption benefit (purchases since 2022) additionally reimburses food, lodging and transport up to $200/day and $500/year for breakdowns 80+ km from home.
Workmanship-and-materials defects get a free replacement — including mounting and balancing — within the first 12 months or first 2/32" of wear. After that the replacement is prorated by tread used, for up to 72 months from purchase or until the wear bars (2/32") show.
Two different things, often confused: a treadwear (mileage) warranty is not the defect warranty, and it is not a promise the tire will last that far. It means that if the tread wears out evenly before the listed distance (with rotation records in order), the manufacturer credits the unused percentage toward a replacement — you still pay the rest. Manufacturing defects are covered separately by the defect warranty above, which has its own free-replacement window and total term.

First thing to know: the warranty belongs to the manufacturer, not the store. Tires bought from us can be claimed at any authorized dealer of that brand anywhere in the country — if you move away, or something goes wrong on a road trip, you do not have to drive back to Markham for us to handle it. (Two notes: the satisfaction trial exchange is the exception, which the manufacturers require you to do at the original place of purchase; and warehouse chains such as Costco and Canadian Tire generally only process claims on tires they sold themselves, so call ahead — that is their store policy, not the warranty.)
Yes — for the first 12 months or first 2/32" of wear, a tire damaged beyond repair by a road hazard (pothole impact, cut, puncture) is replaced free with a comparable Continental. That is rare: most brands exclude road hazard entirely.

No — like every brand's winter lines it carries no treadwear warranty. It still gets the 60-day trial (exchange for another winter line), road hazard and defect coverage.
