Goodyear has been making tires in Akron, Ohio since 1898, and it is one of the few brands that actually builds tires in Canada: the Napanee, Ontario plant turns out about 19,000 passenger tires a day, and in 2024 Goodyear Canada committed more than $575 million to expand it. For a Markham shop that matters in a practical way — Canadian-relevant sizes and winter fitments tend to be available rather than back-ordered from overseas.
Since buying Cooper Tire in 2021, Goodyear also owns Cooper, Kelly, Mastercraft and the Dunlop passenger brand in North America — four price tiers under one warranty administrator. In the shop we quote Goodyear most often for pickups and SUVs: the Wrangler family covers everything from a quiet highway tire to a full-on all-terrain, and the mileage figures on the truck lines are among the strongest we can offer.
Goodyear Canada runs three consumer programs: a 60-day satisfaction guarantee, the Highway Auto & Light Truck Replacement Limited Warranty for defects, and a published tread life (mileage) table. There is no road-hazard coverage and no roadside assistance attached to a tire purchase — the roadside benefit you may have read about (ToYourRescue) comes with vehicle repairs at Goodyear service-network stores, not with tires.

Buy a set of eligible Goodyear tires and you can exchange them for a different set of Goodyear, Cooper, Kelly, Dunlop or Mastercraft tires. Mounting and balancing are included (valve stems extra); pay the difference if you move up, get it back if you move down. Read the fine print carefully: Goodyear's page promises "up to 60 days to decide" but then asks you to bring the tires and receipt back "within 45 days of your purchase" — so plan on 45. The exchange set is not re-covered, and the swap must happen where you bought them.
A radial tire that fails from a workmanship or materials defect within the first 2/32" of usable tread or 12 months of purchase (whichever comes first) is replaced free, with mounting and balancing included. After that it is prorated on tread used, for up to 6 years from the original purchase date or until the treadwear indicators show at 2/32" — whichever comes first. On prorated claims you pay mounting, balancing, taxes and levies. The same warranty text covers Goodyear, Cooper and Kelly tires.
Tread Life Limited Warranty
Covered for up to six years or the published kilometres, whichever comes first. The tire has to wear evenly down to 2/32", you have to have rotated it on the prescribed pattern, and you have to produce the original invoice. Goodyear then replaces on a prorated basis: deliver 91,000 km of a 130,000 km warranty and you pay 70% of the current advertised price of a comparable tire.
Treadwear warranty by product line (km)
Two different things, often confused: a treadwear (mileage) warranty is not the defect warranty, and it is not a promise the tire will last that far. It means that if the tread wears out evenly before the listed distance (with rotation records in order), the manufacturer credits the unused percentage toward a replacement — you still pay the rest. Manufacturing defects are covered separately by the defect warranty above, which has its own free-replacement window and total term.

Goodyear's Canadian tread-life page has not been refreshed for the newest lines — Assurance MaxLife 2, WeatherReady 2, Eagle F1 Asymmetric 6 and the WinterCommand family are not on it. If a mileage figure matters to your decision, ask us to confirm the current one before you buy.
Rotation on Goodyear's prescribed pattern is mandatory, and the original invoice must be produced with the claim.
The mileage warranty is prorated from the first kilometre — there is no free-replacement window on treadwear, only on defects.

How to claim at Taylor Tire
First thing to know: the warranty belongs to the manufacturer, not the store. Tires bought from us can be claimed at any authorized dealer of that brand anywhere in the country — if you move away, or something goes wrong on a road trip, you do not have to drive back to Markham for us to handle it. (Two notes: the satisfaction trial exchange is the exception, which the manufacturers require you to do at the original place of purchase; and warehouse chains such as Costco and Canadian Tire generally only process claims on tires they sold themselves, so call ahead — that is their store policy, not the warranty.)
Bring the tires on the vehicle plus the original invoice; for a mileage claim bring the rotation records and odometer readings too. Goodyear Consumer Assistance in Canada is 1-800-387-3288 if you want to open the file yourself first.
We measure the remaining tread, photograph the condition and submit the claim through Goodyear Canada. If we sold and rotated the tires, the service history Goodyear asks for is already in our system.
You pay for the replacement tire on the day. This is the same for every brand: the manufacturer only settles after the tire reaches them and they have inspected it, so the new tire is a normal purchase up front — that is not us, it is how tire warranty adjustments work.
Once the manufacturer inspects and approves, we refund you — by e-transfer, or in cash if you would rather drop by. How much comes back follows the terms above: the full amount inside the free-replacement window, a prorated share after that.
Goodyear's Canadian page says both — "up to 60 days to decide", then "bring your tires and original sales receipt to your local store within 45 days". Work to 45 days and you are safe either way.
Can I exchange Goodyear tires for Cooper or Dunlop under the guarantee?
Yes. The guarantee explicitly allows exchanging for a different set of Goodyear, Cooper, Kelly, Dunlop or Mastercraft tires — they are all Goodyear-family brands. You pay or get back the price difference.
Does Goodyear cover a tire I ruined in a pothole?
No. Goodyear Canada publishes no road-hazard coverage on replacement tires — impact breaks, cuts and punctures are excluded. Hankook, Nexen, Nokian and Falken do publish road-hazard programs, so tell us if that matters and we will show you those options.
Do Goodyear winter tires have a mileage warranty?
No — no winter line appears on Goodyear's Canadian tread-life table. Winter tires still get the 60-day guarantee and the defect warranty.
