Sumitomo's performance-minded brand, and one of the few here that publishes both a road-hazard program and a 30-day ride guarantee. The Aklimate all-weather and Wildpeak truck lines are what move fastest out of our shop.
Falken launched in 1983 as Sumitomo Rubber Industries' performance brand — the same group that owns the Dunlop name outside North America — and it grew up in motorsport and drifting before broadening into touring and truck tires. That heritage is still visible in the Azenis line, and in how the brand tunes even its mainstream tires for steering response.
For Canadian buyers the two that matter are Aklimate, a severe-snow-rated all-weather tire with a 65,000-mile tread life warranty, and the Wildpeak family for trucks and SUVs. Falken also does something most brands at this price do not: it publishes a Road Hazard Protection warranty running two years or the first 3/32" of wear, plus a 30-Day Ride Guarantee with a full refund.
Falken's warranty applies across the 50 United States, Puerto Rico and Canada under one document, so the figures are published in miles rather than kilometres — the kilometre equivalents below are conversions, not separate Canadian numbers. Four parts: a replacement warranty for defects, a limited tread life warranty, Road Hazard Protection on named lines, and the 30-Day Ride Guarantee.
On eligible lines — including Wildpeak A/T3W, A/T4W and A/T Trail, Ziex CT60 A/S and ZE960 A/S, Aklimate and Azenis FK510 — damage from an unforeseen road hazard such as a nail, glass or a pothole is covered for two years from purchase or through the first 3/32" of wear, whichever comes first. That 3/32" window is deeper than the 2/32" most brands use, which in practice means more of the tire's life is covered. Mounting, balancing and service fees are not included.
If for any reason you are not satisfied with a new set of four eligible Falken tires within 30 days or 1,000 miles (about 1,600 km) of purchase, return them to the original place of purchase for a full reimbursement. Note the word: reimbursement, not just an exchange — Falken is one of the few brands here that refunds rather than swapping you into another set of its own tires.
A tire that becomes unserviceable from a defect within the first 2/32" (1.6 mm) of wear is replaced free with a comparable Falken. After that, a prorated adjustment credit is given based on the percentage of remaining usable tread, down to the 2/32" wear bars, at which point no credit is due. The whole warranty is effective only for claims made within six years of the date of production, read from the DOT serial number — not from your purchase date.
Two different things, often confused: a treadwear (mileage) warranty is not the defect warranty, and it is not a promise the tire will last that far. It means that if the tread wears out evenly before the listed distance (with rotation records in order), the manufacturer credits the unused percentage toward a replacement — you still pay the rest. Manufacturing defects are covered separately by the defect warranty above, which has its own free-replacement window and total term.

First thing to know: the warranty belongs to the manufacturer, not the store. Tires bought from us can be claimed at any authorized dealer of that brand anywhere in the country — if you move away, or something goes wrong on a road trip, you do not have to drive back to Markham for us to handle it. (Two notes: the satisfaction trial exchange is the exception, which the manufacturers require you to do at the original place of purchase; and warehouse chains such as Costco and Canadian Tire generally only process claims on tires they sold themselves, so call ahead — that is their store policy, not the warranty.)
Nothing changes about your coverage — one warranty document covers the US, Puerto Rico and Canada, and the mileage is simply stated in miles. The kilometre numbers on this page are our conversions so you can compare against the other brands, which publish Canadian km figures directly.
On duration, yes: two years or the first 3/32" of wear, where Hankook and Nexen stop at one year or the first 2/32". Falken's applies to named lines only, so check the specific tire — that is a question we can answer at the counter.
That is how Falken words it — a full reimbursement on a set of four returned to the original place of purchase within 30 days or 1,000 miles. Most competing programs give you an exchange into another set of the same brand instead.
No. Falken states the tread life warranty does not apply to designs not listed, and the mud-terrain, track (Azenis RT660) and winter lines are not on the list. They still carry the replacement warranty for defects.
