About Pirelli

Pirelli, founded in Milan in 1872, is the performance specialist of the big premium brands: the exclusive tire supplier to Formula 1 and the factory fitment on a long list of sports and luxury cars. If a vehicle came from the factory with a marked Pirelli tire (star for BMW, MO for Mercedes and so on), fitting the same marked tire keeps it driving the way the manufacturer intended.

The road-car lineup maps cleanly: P Zero for performance, Cinturato for touring, Scorpion for SUVs and crossovers, and Sottozero for winter. Recent all-season and all-weather versions of P Zero, Cinturato and Scorpion have made the brand a realistic daily-driver choice in Canada, not just a summer performance pick.

Pirelli Warranty in Canada, in Detail

Pirelli Tire Inc. (St-Laurent, Québec) publishes one limited-warranty document for Canada; the terms below are from the edition effective May 1, 2026. Note for anyone comparing older articles: the former "Pirelli Confidence Plan" branding and its 30-day trial are gone — the current Canadian document gives a 60-day exchange trial instead.

Satisfaction trial 60 days Exchange for another Pirelli set; eligible lines, set of 4
Defect warranty 1 yr free, 6 yrs total Free replacement in year 1 or first 2/32" wear; prorated after
Treadwear warranty Up to 145,000 km Varies by line — see table
Road hazard Run Flat only 1 year on Run Flat / RunForward tires; none on regular tires

60-day satisfaction exchange

Buy a set of 4 eligible replacement Pirelli tires and, within 60 days of purchase or the first 2/32" (1.6 mm) of wear — whichever comes first — you can return them with the original receipt to the original place of purchase and exchange for a different Pirelli set. A refund (less taxes and fees) applies only if no other suitable Pirelli line exists in your size. Eligible lines include the Cinturato, P Zero All Season, Scorpion all-season/all-terrain and WeatherActive families.

Defect warranty (workmanship & materials)

If a tire becomes unserviceable from a defect in workmanship or materials within 1 year of purchase or the first 2/32" of wear, Pirelli replaces it free (tire only — mounting, balancing and taxes are not covered). After that window the replacement is prorated by tread used, until the tire reaches 2/32" remaining or 6 years from purchase, whichever comes first.

Run Flat / RunForward road hazard

Run Flat and RunForward tires (original equipment or replacement) that become unserviceable from a road hazard — nail, pothole, impact — are replaced free within 1 year of purchase or the first 2/32" of wear. Regular Pirelli tires carry no road-hazard coverage.

Treadwear warranty by product line (km)

Two different things, often confused: a treadwear (mileage) warranty is not the defect warranty, and it is not a promise the tire will last that far. It means that if the tread wears out evenly before the listed distance (with rotation records in order), the manufacturer credits the unused percentage toward a replacement — you still pay the rest. Manufacturing defects are covered separately by the defect warranty above, which has its own free-replacement window and total term.

Product line Treadwear warranty Notes
Scorpion AS Plus 3 ("Scorpion All Season 3") 110,000 km SUV / crossover all-season
Cinturato P7 AS Plus 3 ("P7 All Season 3") 110,000 km Touring all-season
P Zero AS Plus 3 ("P Zero All Season 3") 80,000 km UHP all-season, incl. ELECT
Scorpion Verde All Season / II 105,000 km
Scorpion All Season 4 110,000 km
Scorpion WeatherActive 100,000 km All-weather (severe-snow rated)
Cinturato WeatherActive 100,000 km All-weather (severe-snow rated)
Scorpion All Terrain (+ ELECT) 80,000 km
P4 Persist All Season 135,000 km Highest-mileage Pirelli line
P Zero (PZ4) summer No treadwear warranty (summer performance)
Powergy No treadwear warranty in the Canadian document
Winter Sottozero / Ice Zero (all winter lines) No treadwear warranty; standard defect warranty still applies
  • Treadwear warranty applies to replacement purchases only — tires that came on the car from the factory are excluded (their defect warranty still applies).
  • Staggered fitments (different sizes front and rear): the rear tires get 50% of the listed distance.
  • On electric vehicles, non-ELECT tires are honoured at 80% of the listed distance; ELECT versions get the full figure.
  • If the tire wears out early the remedy is prorated, not free: you pay the percentage of warranted distance actually used, applied to the current selling price.
  • Claims require the original invoice with the odometer reading at installation, and rotations every 8,000–11,000 km documented by an authorized dealer.

What the warranty does not cover

  • Road hazard damage — punctures, cuts, impact breaks (except Run Flat / RunForward under their own coverage)
  • Under- or over-inflation, running flat, overloading
  • Irregular wear from misalignment or worn vehicle parts
  • Racing, track days, commercial use
  • Tire sealants, liquid balancers, or inflation with anything other than air or nitrogen
  • Tires moved to a different vehicle than the one they were installed on
  • Cold-weather cracking on tires that are not winter or all-season rated

How to claim at Taylor Tire

First thing to know: the warranty belongs to the manufacturer, not the store. Tires bought from us can be claimed at any authorized dealer of that brand anywhere in the country — if you move away, or something goes wrong on a road trip, you do not have to drive back to Markham for us to handle it. (Two notes: the satisfaction trial exchange is the exception, which the manufacturers require you to do at the original place of purchase; and warehouse chains such as Costco and Canadian Tire generally only process claims on tires they sold themselves, so call ahead — that is their store policy, not the warranty.)

  1. Bring the tires, the original purchase invoice and (for mileage claims) your rotation records to the shop. If you bought from us, we already have your invoice on file.
  2. We measure the remaining tread, document the condition and confirm which coverage applies before anything is taken apart.
  3. We submit the claim through our Pirelli distribution channel; Pirelli's inspection personnel authorize the remedy, and submitted tires become Pirelli's property.
  4. You pay for the replacement tire on the day. This is the same for every brand: the manufacturer only settles after the tire reaches them and they have inspected it, so the new tire is a normal purchase up front — that is not us, it is how tire warranty adjustments work.
  5. Once the manufacturer inspects and approves, we refund you — by e-transfer, or in cash if you would rather drop by. How much comes back follows the terms above: the full amount inside the free-replacement window, a prorated share after that.

Warranty FAQ

Does Pirelli still offer the 30-day Confidence Plan?

No. The current Canadian warranty document (effective May 2026) dropped the Confidence Plan branding and replaced the 30-day trial with a 60-day exchange trial: within 60 days or the first 2/32" of wear you can exchange an eligible set of 4 for a different Pirelli line at the original place of purchase.

My car came with Pirelli tires from the factory — do they have a mileage warranty?

No. Pirelli's treadwear warranty covers replacement purchases only. Factory-fitted tires still carry the standard workmanship-and-materials warranty, and factory Run Flats get the 1-year road-hazard coverage.

Do Pirelli winter tires have a mileage warranty?

No winter line (Winter Sottozero, Ice Zero) carries a treadwear warranty, and neither does the P Zero summer tire. The standard defect warranty still applies to all of them.

I run a staggered setup — does the full mileage warranty apply?

Front tires get the full listed distance; rear tires are warranted for 50% of it. On electric vehicles, non-ELECT tires are additionally capped at 80% of the listed distance.

Terms above are transcribed from the manufacturer's official Canadian documents (verified 2026-08). Manufacturers can revise terms; their current official documents govern:
