A Japanese maker with an unusually strong all-weather and all-terrain range for Canadian conditions — Celsius and Open Country are the two lines we quote most. Long kilometre figures, but a strict recorded-rotation rule.
Toyo Tire Corporation has been building tires in Japan since 1945, and Toyo Tire Canada runs the country out of Richmond, British Columbia. Its reputation here rests on two families that suit Ontario weather unusually well: Celsius, one of the earliest genuinely capable all-weather lines, and Open Country, which covers everything from a quiet SUV highway tire to a serious mud-terrain.
The Canadian warranty is called the Millennium Warranty, and it has one requirement you must not ignore: rotation every 8,000 km, recorded and endorsed by the dealer on the card in the warranty booklet. Toyo says in print that the completed registration card and the documented rotation record are mandatory. Buy Toyo, rotate on schedule, and keep the booklet — otherwise the kilometre figures on the box are just numbers.
The Toyo Millennium Warranty bundles two things: a workmanship and materials warranty and a treadwear limited warranty. Read the workmanship table carefully — Toyo does not publish a free-replacement window the way most brands do. It states the coverage runs for the life of the original usable tread or five years from date of manufacture, with the replacement cost calculated by multiplying the percentage of usable tread worn by the warranty replacement price. In other words, it is prorated from the start.
If the tire wears evenly across the face down to the treadwear indicators (2/32", 1.6 mm) before the published kilometres — and the registration card and 8,000 km rotation record are complete — Toyo extends the benefit in the table below. Every line is also capped at five years from the date of manufacture, whichever comes first. Service under this warranty is available only in Canada and only for tires purchased in Canada.
Covers all passenger and light-truck tread designs for the life of the original usable tread or five years from date of manufacture, whichever occurs first. The replacement cost is determined by multiplying the percentage of usable tread worn by the warranty replacement price; installation, balancing, taxes and levies are extra. Note what is not there: unlike most brands, Toyo's Canadian booklet does not publish a first-2/32" free-replacement period.
This is the part that decides claims. Toyo requires the completed Millennium warranty registration card plus a dealer-endorsed rotation record every 8,000 km. The booklet lists "any tire for which mileage and tire rotation records are not available or verifiable" as a failure to meet the conditions. Separately, Transport Canada tire registration (a different card, or online at toyotires.ca) is recommended for safety recalls.
Two different things, often confused: a treadwear (mileage) warranty is not the defect warranty, and it is not a promise the tire will last that far. It means that if the tread wears out evenly before the listed distance (with rotation records in order), the manufacturer credits the unused percentage toward a replacement — you still pay the rest. Manufacturing defects are covered separately by the defect warranty above, which has its own free-replacement window and total term.

First thing to know: the warranty belongs to the manufacturer, not the store. Tires bought from us can be claimed at any authorized dealer of that brand anywhere in the country — if you move away, or something goes wrong on a road trip, you do not have to drive back to Markham for us to handle it. (Two notes: the satisfaction trial exchange is the exception, which the manufacturers require you to do at the original place of purchase; and warehouse chains such as Costco and Canadian Tire generally only process claims on tires they sold themselves, so call ahead — that is their store policy, not the warranty.)
Toyo's Canadian booklet does not publish a first-2/32" free-replacement window the way Michelin, Goodyear or Hankook do. The workmanship table shows a prorated calculation — percentage of usable tread worn times the warranty replacement price — for the life of the tread or five years from manufacture. Bring the tire in and we will work the number with you.
It is written into the booklet as mandatory for the treadwear warranty, and "records not available or verifiable" is listed as a failure to meet the conditions. It is tighter than most brands, which ask for 12,000 km. Rotate with us and we endorse the card.
No — Celsius is in the treadwear table with a real figure (100,000 km on S/T/H sizes). It is the Observe winter range that has no treadwear warranty.
No. Road hazard damage — impact, snags, cuts, bruises, punctures — is excluded "whether repairable or not". Hankook, Nexen, Nokian and Falken publish road-hazard programs if that is a priority for you.
