Wheel Warranty
A wheel warranty is written by the manufacturer, not promised over the counter. This page sets out the terms brand by brand — periods, run-out thresholds, what is and is not covered, and how a claim is filed. We file it with the manufacturer on your behalf.
FAST Wheels
Canadian brand, and the catalogue we sell the most of. Its structural cover is the strongest of the three, and the paint term depends on which finish you pick — worth knowing before you fall for a polished wheel.
Run-out is covered above 0.020 in / 0.50 mm, provided there is no evidence of impact.
Covered
- Peeling of the clear coat, paint, or chrome finish
- Radial or lateral run-out greater than 0.020 in / 0.50 mm, provided there is no evidence of impact
- Stress cracks in the wheel, provided there is no evidence of impact
- Bubbles in the paint or chrome, or other blemishes in the finish
- Wheels that leak air
- Improper machining of the centre bore or lug holes
Not covered
- Run-out less than 0.020 in / 0.50 mm
- Wheels damaged or knocked out-of-round by tire installation, lowered suspension, impact, off-roading, accident, racing, negligence, misuse, or exceeding the load rating or tire diameter
- Cosmetic damage from poor maintenance, corrosive agents or environments, impact, curb rash, road hazard or neglect
- Paint chipping at the lug holes during installation
- Blemished wheels, which carry cosmetic warranty only
- Claims by anyone other than the original purchaser, or after the vehicle is transferred
- Wheels that have been altered, or run with accessories or adapters FAST has not approved
How FAST Wheels handles a claim
The wheels go back to an authorized dealer — us — with the original proof of purchase. FAST inspects every warranty return; a wheel it accepts is repaired or replaced and shipped back freight prepaid. A wheel it declines is returned freight collect only if you ask for it back.
DAI Wheels
Direct Auto Import — OE-style alloys plus the steel wheels that go under most winter packages. Alloys and steels are two different warranties here, and the alloy one has a winter clause you need to read.
Read this one before winter: DAI voids the finish warranty on alloys used in winter unless that wheel is winter-approved. Ask us which ones are — it is the whole reason we put steel or winter-approved wheels under a snow package.
Covered
- Peeling of the paint, clear coat or chrome on the face of the wheel
- Blemishes in the paint, clear coat or chrome finish
- Lateral or radial run-out greater than 0.025 in / 0.635 mm, as long as there is no evidence of impact
- Wheels that leak air
- Improperly machined bolt holes, centre bores or offsets
- Steel wheels: air leak, structural defect, finish on a new wheel, and run-out outside spec (0.08 mm on 15–16 in, 1.0 mm on 17–20 in)
Not covered
- Peeling of the paint, clear coat or chrome in the barrel or on the back of the wheel
- Run-out less than 0.025 in / 0.635 mm
- Stone chips, curb rash or scratches in the finish caused by road hazards
- Finish damage caused by tire installation or the use of an impact gun
- Corrosion, pitting, scratches or staining from improper wheel maintenance
- Damage from impact, accident, racing, off-road use, negligence, misuse, or exceeding the maximum load rating
- Wheels that have been repaired, modified or altered
- Cosmetic defects claimed more than one year after purchase
- Claims made by anyone other than the original purchaser
- Steel wheels: rust or discolouration from poor maintenance, structural problems caused by the road, and any wheel already installed on a tire
How DAI Wheels handles a claim
DAI wants the wheels returned freight prepaid with a copy of the original proof of purchase, and it inspects everything that comes back. Accepted wheels are repaired or replaced at DAI's discretion and returned freight prepaid; declined wheels come back freight collect. DAI also states it can refuse any wheel damaged by abuse.
SuperSpeed Wheels
Flow-formed performance wheels, built by Wheel Tech Group in Concord, Ontario. The headline cover is generous, but the list of defects it actually names is short and arrival-focused — worth reading in full before you buy on the headline alone.
SuperSpeed publishes this warranty in two places and they disagree: the brand site says the finish term is two years, the online store says one year in the same clause while its own headline says two. We quote the brand site here and confirm the term with SuperSpeed before filing anything.
Covered
- Wheels that arrive with structural cracks
- Wheels that cause leaks when mounted properly with tires
- Wheels that arrive out of round and cannot be balanced within standard limits when mounted properly
Not covered
- The finish is warranted only against non-hazardous weather and climate, non-hazardous paved roads, and typical operating temperatures for normal driving — anything harsher is outside it
- Anyone other than the original consumer: the warranty is not transferable
- Any claim without proof of purchase
How SuperSpeed Wheels handles a claim
SuperSpeed handles these directly: email [email protected] with proof of purchase and details of the defect plus photos or video. Once approved it issues a return label, the wheel goes back in its original packaging, and SuperSpeed repairs or replaces it at its own expense. Keep the boxes — the original packaging is part of the procedure. We can file it for you.
OEP Wheels
OE-fitment winter wheels, SuperSpeed's own line. We host the catalogue ourselves because the brand has no site of its own — and no separately published warranty document either.
There is no OEP warranty document to quote, and we will not apply the SuperSpeed terms above to an OEP wheel as if they were the same paper. If an OEP wheel has a defect, bring it back to us and we take it up with the manufacturer directly.
How OEP Wheels handles a claim
Bring the wheel to us with the invoice — we have the order on file either way — and we open the case with the manufacturer and tell you what it comes back with. We will not promise you a term in advance that nobody has published.
Keeping the warranty alive
Read the exclusion lists above and the same theme runs through all of them: most refused claims are not manufacturing at all, they are fitting, cleaning and driving. Here is what we do at our end, and what to watch at yours.
At our end
- Bolt pattern, offset and hub bore checked before the wheel goes on. A wheel run outside spec is excluded by every brand here.
- Torqued to the vehicle manufacturer's spec, not leaned on with an impact gun — DAI excludes finish damage caused by one outright.
- Wheels inspected before tires go on. Once a tire is mounted the wheel cannot go back, and DAI's steel terms exclude any wheel already fitted to a tire.
- We keep the invoice and the order on file, so proof of purchase — which every brand requires — is never your problem.
At yours
- Rinse the wheels through salt season. Corrosion from road salt left sitting is "improper maintenance" to every brand on this page.
- Mild soap and water with a soft cloth. No acid-based wheel cleaner — one acid wash effectively ends the finish warranty.
- Re-check the lug torque after installation and after any balancing, once you have driven on them.
- Planning to run DAI alloys through winter? Confirm the model is winter-approved first — if it is not, the finish warranty does not apply in winter.
- Curbed it or hit a pothole? Bring it in. Evidence of impact turns an otherwise covered crack or run-out into an excluded one.
If something is wrong
- Photograph or film it first — the defect, the whole wheel, and the car. Without images an email-based process like SuperSpeed's cannot even be opened.
- Proof of purchase is required. If you bought here, we pull the order — no digging for a receipt.
- Bring the car or the wheels back to us. We supply the fitment and installation record and file with the manufacturer — SuperSpeed by email, FAST and DAI as a dealer return. We know the routes.
- Once the manufacturer rules on it, the repaired or replaced wheel comes back to our shop and we call you in to have it fitted. If it is declined, you get the manufacturer's reason as they gave it to us.
This page is our transcription of the manufacturers' published documents; their own warranty document governs. Terms change — we go over the ones that apply before you order.
The manufacturers' own warranty pages
Everything above is transcribed from these public manufacturer pages, with no rounding. Check us against them. If a manufacturer changes its terms before this page catches up, theirs governs — and we would appreciate the heads-up.
