Tire Repair

A nail in the tread is usually a twenty-minute job. Bring the car in during opening hours — repairs are first come, first served and never need an appointment. If the tire is on the rim we take it off, find the leak in the water bath, and repair it from the inside where the standard says it should be repaired.

Common questions

What is the difference between a plug and a patch?

A plug seals a tread puncture from the outside. A patch means the tire comes off the rim and the hole is sealed from the inside, which is what a damaged inner liner or a larger puncture needs. We quote the plug price unless the tire tells us otherwise once it is off.

My tire keeps losing air but there is no nail.

That is usually the bead — the seal between the tire and the rim — or a cracked valve stem, especially on wheels that have been through a few winters. Both are the $35 line below.

When can a tire not be repaired?

Sidewall and shoulder damage, a puncture bigger than 6 mm, a tire that has been run flat, or one that has already been repaired at the same spot. Repairing any of those is not safe at highway speed and we will not do it — we will tell you straight rather than take the money.
